What are steps of Dental Orthodontic braces ?

Orthodontics also includes treating and controlling various aspects of facial growth (dentofacial orthopedics) and the shape and development of the jaw. An orthodontics specialist is called an orthodontist.

Orthodontics used to be called orthodontia - the word comes from the Greek orthos, meaning "straight, perfect or proper", and dontos, which means "teeth". Orthodontics also includes cosmetic dentistry; when the patient's aim is to improve his/her appearance. An orthodontist uses a range of medical dental devices, including headgears, plates, braces, etc.

Dental braces (also known as braces, orthodontic cases, or cases) are devices used in orthodontics that align and straighten teeth and help position them with regard to a person's bite, while also aiming to improve dental health.

Braces also fix gaps. They are often used to correct underbites, as well as malocclusions, overbites, open bites, deep bites, cross bites, crooked teeth, and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw. Braces can be either cosmetic or structural. Dental braces are often used in conjunction with other orthodontic appliances to help widen the palate or jaws and to otherwise assist in shaping the teeth and jaws.

Kindly Note -

Total working time - 20 mins per appointment.
Total appointments - 12 to 18.
Total gap between two appointments - 1 month.
Total Days to complete task - 12 to 24 months.
Total Days for retainers - minimum 1 year.

What are basics of dental orthodontic braces ?

1. How much time is needed for Braces ?

Usually it takes 12 months to 18 months for braces to be completed.

2. What are Traditional / Conventional Braces ?

these are most cost effective braces available, but they need more time for completion of total treatment.

3. What are Damons / Advanced Braces ?

these are costly but effective braces as they are having self ligating features, which reduces friction and needs less appointments for servicing eventually need less time for completion of total treatment

4. What are Damons clear / Ceramic Braces ?

these are most costly and esthetic braces & they are also having self ligating features, which but due to ceramic increases friction and needs more appointments for servicing eventually need more time for completion of total treatment.

5. Why we need to wear retainers for 1 year after completion of any braces ?

Gums are like elastics and try to pull newly algined teeth slightly back to their original position and gaps between teeth may increase again if we don't use retainers.

6. Do braces fail ?

Yes, if treatment is not done through proper channel like good reputed clinic, Post graduate MDS Orthodontist and time given is less & also we do not use retainers then they may fail.
